Diffuse Forest Colored Spirograph Illustration

$150.00

When I was attending the Tennessee State Fair with some friends in Nashville, TN, we happened on a booth filled with vintage toys and one of them was The Magic Designer. Prior to the popular “Spirograph” toy, The Magic Designer helped kids learn about angles and cycles (believe it or not, before that it was called the “Hoot-Nanny”). At this point in my creative path, I had not ventured into circular illustrations and composition and utilizing the lines of the spirograph style brought a new wave of inspiration.

This spirograph illustration is further enhanced by the utilization of color, with its contrasting blue and red details creating a dance of forward and backward movement for the eyes. The central blue lines appear to float off of the forest background in a kaleidoscope like design. Tree branches spread from the center point and the background shows a perspective as viewing trees along a horizon. This perspective play further enhances the way that the central flower form is framed and focused.
