Palette Painting VII is part of my special series where I turn paint palettes into finished artworks. While I was focused on another painting, I noticed the colors mixing on my palette were just as interesting. This sparked a playful freedom that made me start using small canvases as palettes—and then turning them into their own paintings.
This piece is filled mostly with beautiful blues like Kings Blue and Ultramarine Blue Light. After I finished using it as a palette, I added more colors by feeling what was right in the moment. Along one edge, warm sunset colors flow gently, creating a lovely contrast with the cool blues.
You can hang this painting in any direction, but it’s ready to display the way I prefer.
