Full Moon Spirograph Illustration
When I was attending the Tennessee State Fair with some friends in Nashville, TN, we happened on a booth filled with vintage toys and one of them was The Magic Designer. Prior to the popular “Spirograph” toy, The Magic Designer helped kids learn about angles and cycles (believe it or not, before that it was called the “Hoot-Nanny”). At this point in my creative path, I had not ventured into circular illustrations and composition and utilizing the lines of the spirograph style brought a new wave of inspiration.
The Full Moon Spirograph Illustration is completed with ink pen and has a narrative like quality with the full moon highlighted in the central design. The pulsating quality of lines surrounding the central design seem to flow like water both in depth and width. A forest scene emerges from the background with tree and limb forms showing through.
