Star Flower Spirograph Illustration
Before the Spirograph toy, there was a toy called “The Magic Designer”. When I was attending the Tennessee State Fair with some friends in Nashville, TN, we happened on a booth filled with vintage toys and one of them was The Magic Designer. I had not ventured into circular illustrations and composition until this point and utilizing the lines of the spirograph style brought a new wave of inspiration.
The Star Flower Spirograph Illustration is completed with ink pen and has a lovely play of depth. The ribbon dancing around the central star seems to dance into the background and foreground with a twirling movement. Subtle branches emerge from the background around the edges and stars highlight the central star flower and ribbon loops.
