Palette Painting VIII
The Palette Painting series is a study of the unconscious mind in process of painting. As I worked on a particular piece, I realized that the blending that occurred on the palette was equally interesting to what I was working on. With my cognitive focus on the other piece, there emerged a playfulness and freedom in the palettes that began to intrigue me. It was soon after this realization that I bought many smaller canvases to then use as palettes and complete their own paintings on.
Palette Painting VIII is one of the most clearly palette pieces of the Palette Painting series. The colors seem to float on the white background and create a playful surface design. It contains a vast array of hues with warm and cool tones intermixing throughout its composition. Displayed alone or within a group, it holds a great deal of interest in its complexity and interest from the recognition of process clearly shown in the blending on its surface.
This piece can be displayed in any direction. It is portrayed in my preferred orientation.
