Midnight Lakeside Forest Scene Plein Air
This is truly a one of a kind piece.
At the time I painted this, I was living outside in a covered pavilion space next to this pond and the moon and night sky was absolutely captivating. So what did I do? Set my alarm for 3 AM and woke up to paint. My desk was set up facing the opening of the pavilion and I painted in the dark, using my headlamp to make sure I was using the paints I had preplanned in previous days. This is a mixed media with walnut ink as the underpainting and is finished with watercolor and white ink for highlights.
