Palette Painting IX
The palette painting series is an exploration of the unconscious mind at work in the painting process. As I engaged with a specific piece, I discovered that the blending happening on the palette was just as fascinating as the artwork itself. With my cognitive focus directed toward another piece, a playful freedom began to emerge on the palettes, captivating my interest. Shortly after this revelation, I started using many smaller canvases as palettes, creating unique paintings that stood on their own.
Palette Painting IC represents a beautiful blend of both palette and painting. While I painted this piece, I simultaneously worked on the larger scale artwork it supported. The results is a composition that exhibits moments of both blended forms and intriguing contrasts, thanks to the colors chosen during the working session. Palette elements seem to float on the white surface, while other sections are seamlessly blended, creating a more purposeful composition.
