Palette Painting I
The Palette Painting series is a study of the unconscious mind in process of painting. As I worked on a particular piece, I realized that the blending that occurred on the palette was equally interesting to what I was working on. With my cognitive focus on the other piece, there emerged a playfulness and freedom in the palettes that began to intrigue me. It was soon after this realization that I bought many smaller canvases to then use as palettes and complete their own paintings on.
Palette Painting I has an incredible quality of movement and depth with its deep blue background and playful swaths of color. The curved formation of color has a wave like quality that brings an oceanic or water feel to a truly nonobjective piece. pops of red, green and yellows break up an otherwise limited palette and move the eye through it’s composition.
This piece can be displayed in any direction. It is portrayed in my preferred orientation.
